At an official ceremony today, the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency Stamen Yanev presented certificates for Class A investment under the Investment Promotion Act / IPA /. Among the companies holding the certificate was BULPHARMA Ltd. – one of the largest investors in the country in the healthcare sector. The award was given to the owner of the company Dr. Mihail Tikov for the project “Reconstruction and upgrade of a hospital pharmacy in hospital wards and “warm connection” between outpatient center “Pulmed” and MBAL “Pulmed”, which will be implemented in Plovdiv. The total amount of the investment amounts to BGN 3,800,000 million.

BULPHARMA is a company with a 20-year history, which started with the main activity of wholesale distribution of medicines for the Bulgarian and international market. Since 2000 BULPHARMA Ltd. invested in the field of healthcare and in the same year made the first in Bulgaria privatization of a public health institution in Pazardzhik. Since then, the company through privatization and its own construction has created 6 hospitals and 7 clinics throughout the country. The largest of the 6 hospitals is MBAL “Sofiamed”, which has 680 beds.

In 2013 and 2014 BULPHARMA wins the prestigious “National investor of the year” award.

BULPHARMA won for the second time the prestigious “Investor of the Year” award. The company was awarded in the category “Investment in conquering market share” for 2014 in competition with another 25 nominated companies from the Bulgarian Investment Agency. In 2014 BULPHARMA invests over BGN 58 million in the Bulgarian economy, making its largest investment in the construction of new medical buildings and the purchase of new modern equipment in the modern University Hospital in the capital – Sofiamed and in Plovdiv – in Pulmed Hospital.

During the award ceremony, the member of the Management Board of BULPHARMA, Nikola Tikov expressed his satisfaction with the next recognition of the company by the Bulgarian Investment Agency, and assured that BULPHARMA will continue to be one of the major investors in the Bulgarian economy and the most the largest private investor in Bulgarian healthcare in 2015 as well.

Two months ago, BULPHARMA won an award in the national competition “Building of the Year” 2014 for its investment in the newly built buildings of the Plovdiv hospital “Pulmed”.

BULPHARMA is a company with a 17-year history, which started with the main activity of wholesale distribution of medicines for the Bulgarian and international market. Since 2000, BULPHARMA Ltd. invested in the field of healthcare and in the same year made the first in Bulgaria privatization of a public health institution in Pazardzhik. Since then, the company through privatization and its own construction has created 6 hospitals and 7 clinics throughout the country. The largest of the 6 hospitals is MBAL “Sofiamed”, which has 550 beds. The structure of BULPHARMA Ltd. employs over 3,000 people. Since its establishment until today, the company has acquired majority stakes in 31 companies in addition to healthcare, as well as in pharmacy, construction, public transport and logistics, production of construction materials, real estate management etc.

The awards of the Bulgarian Investment Agency (IBA) will be presented for the 9th consecutive year for the most significant investment projects implemented in Bulgaria in 2014 to companies, that have made a significant step in their development through sustainable and efficient investments, opened new jobs, places committed to the introduction of high technology. This year, the evaluation was also guided by whether the companies have invested in environmental protection measures.

The owner of the largest group of private medical institutions in the country “BULPHARMA” – Dr. Mihail Tikov, donated to the Ministry of Health 5 breathing apparatus.

He also donated 5,000 coronavirus tests, which will be used free of charge for external patients of medical institutions, part of the group of “Bulpharma” – MBAL “Sofiamed”, MBAL “Pulmed” – Plovdiv, MBAL “Health” – Pazardzhik, MBAL “Zdrave” – Velingrad, MBAL “Prof. Dr. Ranev” – Peshtera, MBAL “Burgasmed”.

The donation is worth a total of BGN 134,000. THE OWNER OF SOFIAMED HOSPITAL AND BULPHARMA DONATED ANOTHER 5,000 QUICK TESTS AND 100 PCR TESTS AT A VALUE OF BGN 87,000.

The owner of the largest chain of medical institutions in the country, Dr. Mihail Tikov, donates another BGN 75,000 for the fight against coronavirus – 5000 quick tests. They will be used free of charge for citizens in the medical establishments, part of the Bulpharma group – Sofiamed University Hospital, Pulmed University Hospital – Plovdiv, MBAL “Zdrave” – Pazardzhik, MBAL “Zdrave” – Velingrad, MBAL “Prof. Dr. Ranev” – Peshtera, MBAL “Burgasmed”.

Dr. Tikov also made a donation from 100 PCR tests of the Center for Emergency Medical Care in Burgas. They will examine the medical staff in the ambulances, that are in front line in contact with the sick. Their value is BGN 12,000.

The 5 breathing apparatus donated in March by Dr. Mihail Tikov to the Ministry of Health have already been delivered to hospitals in 5 cities of the country:

• MBAL „Prof. Dr. Paraskev”
• Lovech Hospital
• MBAL “Dr. Tota Venkova”, Gabrovo
• Blagoevgrad Hospital

The devices are of the highest quality and class of the German company Draeger.

The 5,000 quick tests that he donated in March for free use by external patients of the medical institutions, part of the Bulpharma group – Sofiamed University Hospital, Pulmed University Hospital – Plovdiv, Zdrave University Hospital – Plovdiv, Zdrave University Hospital – Pazardzhik, MBAL “Zdrave” – Velingrad, MBAL “Prof. D. Ranev” – Peshtera, MBAL “Burgasmed” are already used in the structures for research.

“Together we are stronger, and we will deal with the coronavirus pandemic,” said Dr. Tikov.

Pulmed Hospital in Plovdiv won the prestigious award “Building of the Year” 2014. The medical institution was awarded in the category “Healthcare Buildings” for its newly built two buildings, which were opened in May 2014. The hospital complex is distinguished by the innovative combination of social purpose, modern architecture and high-tech equipment.

With its investment in the expansion in recent months, Pulmed Hospital has tripled its area and today the medical complex, which includes an Outpatient Center and its own parking lot is located on nearly 18,000 square meters. The funds invested in the project are worth BGN 30 million are the largest private investment in Bulgarian healthcare at the moment, and Nikola Tikov, a member of the management board of the investor in the Bulpharma project and manager of the contractor of the plant “Zavodski Stroezhi” – PS AD, Pazardzhik, commented that this is why the award can called deserved:

“Thanks to the expansion of Pulmed Hospital and the opening of the two new medical buildings, 5 new wards and an operating room were opened on the territory of the medical complex, built and equipped according to the most modern world standards. In this way, thousands of patients received access to quality medical services from top specialists in almost all medical fields. Regarding the construction of the new buildings, we complied with all modern, European standards and requirements for design and construction of hospitals and so we created a modern and contemporary environment, offering maximum comfort in the treatment of patients. All this makes me especially satisfied with the award, as the investment in the project was huge – over BGN 30 million.”

This year in the competition in the category “Healthcare Buildings” MBAL “Pulmed” was a worthy rivalry in the face of 4 more hospitals. Among them was the winner of the award in the same category for 2012 – Sofiamed University Hospital. Its investor – Bulpharma, contractor – “Zavodski stroezhi PS” AD and designer – architectural bureau “TopArch” with manager arch. Ivan Moev, are also those of the Plovdiv hospital “Pulmed”, as well as the other participant in the competition this year, in the category “Special purpose buildings” – Pazardzhik Bus Station.

This year Bulpharma will also fight for the grand prize in the “Investor of the Year” competition, organized by the Bulgarian Investment Agency (IBA) at the Ministry of Economy and Energy, honoring companies that have made a significant step in their development through sustainable and efficient investments, created new jobs and relied on the introduction of high technologies that are in line with the pursuit of smart and sustainable economic growth of the country.

The competition “Building of the Year” is organized for the 13th year in succession under the patronage of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works with the assistance of branch organizations in architecture, investment design and construction.
